Default New guys, explore the forum, check for meetups

So I'm still pretty new on here and was just thinking about this. I was able to attend a meetup this last weekend and it was a great experience. I got expert knowledge regarding razor's, learned how to hone from some miesters and had a really good time talking about this hobby and making some new friends.
Anyways it got me thinking, had Glen (gssixgun) not sent me link to the invite under the Parlour section I probably would have never known about it because I had mainly just checked out the newbie section. But man am I glad he did. It was a bit of a drive but I really like this hobby and it was cool finding other shavers and meeting them for some good talk.
So while you may be new, explore some of the other areas of this forum. This is a really cool forum in how proactive people are with meeting and teaching us new guys how to do this and do it right.
I was able to get more out of the 2 days than I would have watching hours of videos. I also had my first shave with a razor that I honed. Thanks glen for the sweat put into that thing.
Not to mention I made my own badger brush and had lot of good food while doing all this thanks to Gerrit and his family, my wife even picked up some good DE shaving advice.

Just my 2cents but check one out if you can.

that is some great advise, in just a weekend or day of face to face instruction on all aspects (honing, lathering, shaving, restoring) is so much more helpful than reading or watching videos. sometime there is even the great custom makers and i got to watch a custom blade be made from start to finish. plus the people you meet there are always so nice and willing to give advice. plus the razor porn that is always there
