Thanked: 0matthewsds
Hi all. New to SRP and just want to say how great it is to have such a rich source of information. I've been preparing to start shaving with a straight for a month or so now after really enjoying the swith to DE shaving. I really enjoy studying a new hobby and with the information I've received here I have bought a few vintage razors, done some minimal restoration, honed and stropped one of the razors. While closely following the instructions for new straight razor shavers, I have shaved just one cheek today. The feeling of the razor was great. Perfectly smooth in every way. Can't wait to continue developing these skills and studying this new hobby; ok, obsesion. Wife thinks it cool too. (Lucky for me.) Anyway, many thanks to all the experts who by their generous advice have aided me thus far. Great place with great people. Thanks to all.

Matthew,
Welcome!! Glad you signed up. Sounds like you've had some success already, congrats on that!!Just in case you haven't come across the wiki, it's linked below. You'll find a lot of great info there for getting started.
Glad you have a supportive spouse, that always makes things more enjoyable, but the old Visa card can strain that a little if you're like most of us. Kid in the candy store kind of thing.
If we can ever help with anything, just ask away! Great bunch of guys, and gals here on the forum.
Enjoy!!!
Howard

Dave!!
Yeah, it sounded like you might have been there a few times, but hey, you never know. If you get a chance, post a pic or two of your razor(s). The guys always enjoy those.

Thanked: 0Thanks for the welcomes. Good reminder SirStropalot on the pic. I've been meaning to do that since that's another interest and business(photography). In fact in looking at the shave of the day posts/pics I think some of them are really artistic still lifes. I've begun imagining a painting I might do along these lines. First though just a simple picture will do.
