Thread: First Shave with First Razor

I had mentioned in a previous post that i had all but ruined an old Sheffield with heat damage from polishing with a Dremel. I had since ordered a DOVO Ebony Spike Point and taken my Sheffield to a guy in town to get it looked at. I had ground off the tip about a half inch into the blade and it was ugly. He gave it a nice mirrored tip and an excellent hone. My first shave with it was later that day and i was very pleased. Closest shave i ever had and no nicks, cuts, or ingrowns! We will see how this extra hollow ground fares against the DOVOs half hollow. I will be using my salvaged Sheffield to learn and practice honing after i get some stones. be in touch SRP!

What I have realized is that equally honed blades shave the same IMO. 4/8 or 8/8 extra hollow or full wedge.
