Thanked: 0My first proper straight razor
Hi all,
I have just started shaving with a straight razor (shavette) and have been really enjoying it so took a plunge and bought a straight razor, I was looking in to investing in a new dovo or somthing similar as it nearly my birthday but one caught my eye on eBay a fritz bracht dovo old razor looked a little worn and the scales were damaged but the blade looked good, slighty worn toe but it could be the shadow in the picture I went ahead and bought it as a gamble and after researching this could be one of the best blades made in that era I'm guessing 50s 60s this ONLY COST ME £10.50!
Any more advice would be aprecieted, is this a good buy?

Thanked: 17If the amount you paid suited you, then it is a good buy. Thinking of the rate conversion, I believe
I would also be pleased. You have a little work to do on the edge but Dovo's are supposed to be a fine shave.
Get it properly honed and tell us how you like it.

a little cleaning and honing and that razor will serve you well. for 10 pounds 50, that is a GREAT deal. vintage dovo, thiers and boker blades have always surpassed the newer models (i think). i will let experts comment on that though. anyways congrats! hope you enjoy your shaves! just make sure you get it honed and cleaned by a pro.
