Default First one down and no cuts

I have been practicing stroping and shaving strokes with a butter knife this weekend in preparation for my first straight razor shave. I watched a video of Lynn face lathering this morning and decided to give lathering a try. Long story short I ended up shaving my whole face, with the grain. I started with my right hand shaving my cheek, then above and below lips, finishing with chin. I then switched hands and followed the same sequence on the left side. Seeing what my hands were doing was difficult because I took my glasses off and I ended up relying on touch and feel a lot. The results were similar to a WTG shave with a disposable. There were no nicks or cuts so I consider this first attempt a success.
    Here are my observations:
    1) I over did the lathering. Should have stopped before my face felt irritated.
    2) Need a lot more practice stroping.
    3) Back to the videos and SRP library now that I have a better idea of what is going on.

Thanks to SRP for getting me this far.

Congrats on your first shave! If you are comfortable with the grain you might want to consider easing into across the grain or against the grain.
