Default Noob still looking into straights

    Hello folks.

I'm still looking into straight shaving. I am researching all the equipment needed to get going with straight shaving. I started DE wet shaving a few months back and enjoying it. But, straights sure do look like a great wayn to shave. I see lots of folks transition to straights and don't see them go back to DE shaving.

I don't have a straight,,strop, or hone yet. Still trying to figure out what I need/like/can afford. Just like with DE shaving I'd rather shell out a few bucks for quality, rather than save some money and regret later.

Any advice is appreciated. I'm looking through the site and all the information.

Thanks for any advice/suggestions in advance.

    Happy shaving,

    Dantheman

Take a look at the Wiki/Library. That will keep you busy reading for a while. Under Shaving Equipment there is entry for Basic Equipment, that should help you out.

If you are willing to deal with the learning curve(shave technique, stropping and honing) you will IMO get the best shave that you can have. It takes time, I almost packed it in a few times. I say go for it! Good luck.

Just placed order off classifieds for Kinfolks Blue Steel 5/8 from Stimpy. Can't wait to get this and start shaving. I definitely had a learning curve with DE shaving a few months back and it paid off, so I'm ready for the challenge of straights. This looked like a good razor to start with and Stimpy52 has a great reputation and offered to hone the razor at a later time, if needed. Thanks for the advice.
