Thanked: 0First SR shave
Had my first SR shave on Saturday. I was using DE razors and getting pretty good shaves regularly. So I'm familiar with all the prep. Just a change in razor. I used the Kinfolks Blue Steel Special 5/8 with muted point picked up off the classifieds from Frank. I used some QCS Iced Key Lime that I've recently gotten, fantastic croap from QCS. Along with my Whipped Dog brush. I was ready to go. I did not strop the razor first as I wanted to use it and see what "shave ready" meant and how to interpret it. The razor seemed plenty sharp to me. I wasn't afraid of cutting myself, but I do respect the blade and what can happen. I performed 2 WTG passes a semi-XTG pass and a couple of strokes ATG on my chin area to see how it felt. I managed to finish without any cuts, nicks, or weepers. It wasn't a great shave, but, I realize as my first SR shave I had done pretty good. I reall enjoyed using the straight and how it felt mowing over my 1 day growth.
I was pleased with the results and how I handled the blade. I still have some thngs to work out as far as grip is concerned. As well as when/how to stretch my face. Also, when to use one hand, and when to use both.
I finished up with a DE Tradere razor- just 1 pass ATG to tidy up. It still wasn't clise, but didn't want irritation. I did have a bit after hot/cold rinse, some Lemon WH, then slathering on some Captains Chioce Co9T BR. Let it burn, baby burn. Then finish it off with a heaping helping of Lucky Tiger to tone it all down.
All in all, a decent shave. I was more concerned with technique, as opposed to results at this juncture. And as far as technique foes, it went OK. I'll use DE during the week until I can SR shave a little quicker, which will come with time/ experience.
Any comments/suggestions welcome. It's great to join the SR club!!

Thanked: 39great, You know Your beard from handling the DE, so You can basicly concentrate on holding and guiding the SR now, which surely is a great benefit.
