Thanked: 5My fear became a reality
Admittedly I wasn't fully awake and not paying my full attention to my shave.
Well it all started well, picked up my razor of choice for today (dovo special), gave it a strop (20 linen, 50 leather), whipped up a perfect lather. And that's when it all started to go to pot.
As soon as the blade touched my skin I remembered it needed a touch up, being too tired and lazy to strop another razor I pursued with the special. The first pass seemed to go okay, though not as smoothly as usual. Second pass xtg, the razor pulled, got a few nicks, fair bit irritation and decided not to do a third pass as I'd like to keep my face.
And then what I've been fearing the 2 years happened... I dropped my beloved razor. Fortunately it only fell a few inches onto the sink and the scales were closed so no damage was done. Though my heart was in my mouth, couldn't quite believe what I'd just done.
That was my fearful start to the day. Thought I'd share it.

Thanked: 3225Happens to most of us sooner or later so you were lucky for sure. I dropped a razor and chipped the blade. That razor is now one size smaller.

Your lucky I caught mine in mid air ( damn stupid reflexes) unlike your mine was open when I dropped it. It suffered no damage and I used paper stitches on my hand

Thanked: 8Swmbo walked in on me stropping (my strop is behind the door in our spare room.
Result was a massive chunk of strop missing and dropping the razor. Luckily it landed on the spine!
Surprisingly it stropped up & shaved ok afterwards.

I dropped a Dovo of mine a few months ago and landed right on the heel. I was very lucky it and only bent it a tiny tiny bit.

I've only dropped a razor once but it was my Livi takeda which went literally flying out of my hands into a shaving mug blade open and it resulted in an edge full of nicks.

Lesson learned. I have only dropped a razor once. It was a vintage Lautnerjung and it fractured the scale at the pivot. No blood.

I dinged mine on the faucet. My wife drops hers once or twice every time she shaves her legs. As such, she refuses to use any of my straights and only use the shavette when using a "straight".
