Thanked: 60Newbie Intro
Hey all,
New to the forum and straight razor shaving, so I figured I'd introduce myself. I switched to a safety razor not too long back, and decided I'd jump into straight razor shaving also! Just received my razor, strop, and new brush from Larry at Whippeddog.com today. I've been using a Merkur 34C HD and an Excelsior boar brush, today I got a Karnak razor (sight unseen deal) and one of Larry's silver tipped badger brushes in an ivory handle. He generously included some nice extras including a balsa strop and extra abrasive for it, some oil for the leather strop, oxyclean for the brush, instructions for everything, and a sample of some aftershave. Survived the first shave with some care and patience. I tossed on a healthy splash of aftershave and received a more fiery response than I'm accustomed to, but my first shave was a pleasant experience! I'm looking forward to shaving more and improving my skills. I'm also very interested in trying to restore a razor, so I'll probably be looking for one that I'm not using to try my hand at in the near future!
Also, just registered here, but I have been lurking around doing some research, so thanks for all the info you've all shared and thanks for leading me to Larry's site.
