    Default Permanent mustache shadow...

Basically, I can get a BBS shave on my entire face, including my upper lip. However, a dark shadow of sorts always remains on my upper lip no matter how close I get. If I feel my mustache with my finger, it feels smooth in all directions unless I really press my finger into my skin and feel the hair underneath the skin basically. Do you all know of ANY way to improve this... it's embarrassing to have a super clean shave everywhere but look unkempt because of this shadow..

    My prep + routine:

*EJ DE89 with Astra Superior Premium blades

    - Shower
    - Wash face again with hot water
    - CO Bigelow Shaving Cream applied with AoS badger brush (also, currently breaking in Omega 49 Boar Brush)
    - WTG, XTG (ear to mouth), ATG (diagonal-ish ATG on mustache)
    - Wash face with cold water
    - After shave lotion

I used to be able to get the clean shaven look on my upper lip too, but about a year ago that just stopped happening. I honestly don't know what caused the change. I switched to DE shaving about 4 months ago.

That's a tough area in general starting out. Maybe your beard is just much thicker on your upper lip and there may not be a solution...

Have you thought about growing it out?
Can't see that if the hair is below the skin you can do much other than some other form of hair removal.

Ifyou have naturally very dark hair, it may be hard to do anything about it. Once you start going grey (like me) you will find it to be less of a problem. The only ther thing I can tell you is that often we are our own worse critics. Others likely will not even notice...truly. ;-)

There was a term some time ago referred to as being "blue skinned" in regard to shaving. Based on your skin tone, facial hair color, and the way it grows, you can have a light blue tone over shaved areas. It's kind of like five o'clock shadow under your skin. I have it on my facial hair spots and haven't found a solution for it. I think it's kind of cool, personally

    Heehee...well not that fine fellow!

As you know, the wet shaving community has many unique vernaculars that are used. :-)

I live in the Panhandle of Florida and one of my best buds is a "southern" gentleman who grew up in the area. He mentioned I was blue skinned and I figured it must be right. Even if it's not, I learned to never argue with a country boy who grew up on a farm
