Thanked: 3Are magnets safe for razors? Magnetic work bench
Hi I was wondering if magnets are safe for razors. I know some razors are magnetic by design. One of the things that got me into razors was hand restoring razors. I have made a new surface for hand sanding razors. I got tow speakers from an old organ that a church was tossing out. It holds the razor flat with little effort while sanding. Any thoughts?

I just realized I hate magnetic razors, yesterday I put a newly sharpened razor on a shelf together with some others... when I reached for it today two more came flying!
Other than that I don't know much about them.Hur Svenska stålet biter kom låt oss pröfva på.

There is no problem with using magnets for holding your blade while sanding, etc. Many of us use this method. I use two rare earth magnets with mine and the biggest problem is separating the blade from the magnets. The magnets may cause your blade to become magnetized and if you use steel wool, like I do, the steel wool dust/residue will then adhere to your blade like whiskers.

Thanked: 2027One needs to ponder this from a scientific standpoint.Collagen, which is presant in Hair (whiskers) has a very high amt. of Iron.
When a magnitised blade gets close to a whisker it is pulled from the follicle thus affording a far closer shave,Is all very simple
That being said,I would love to see razors hanging from so called magnetic razors, pics are in order.

Thanked: 498The sanding jig that I made uses 3 rare earth magnets that have one hell of a pull. After I use it, there is sometimes quite a heavy magnetic pull to the razor. To remedy this I liberated this De-magnetizer from work. I run the razors spine over the unit to render it magnetic-less.
