Thanked: 1I have a Naniwa 3000/8000 and 800/5000.
I'm now practicing with some old razor I picked up from an antiques store for free, as I don't want to ruin my beloved Thiers Issard
I shaved today after 10 strokes on 8000 and stropping and it's much better. I think those lumps on the "virgin" 8k did some microchips to the blade. I'll try doing some more strokes on the 8k and see how it shaves tomorrow.
Thanks!

I'm going to throw out a shameless plug for one of Lynn's videos on his Youtube channel. Not for the sake of the plug, but because it seriously helped me out recently.
If you have a 5k, and 8k, check out Lynn's Razor Refreshing video he recently uploaded. Among other things, he talks about refreshing with an 8k alone and with a 5k/8k using a pyramid method. I, also a relatively new SR shaver, recently refreshed my blades using my Norton 4k/8k and a CrOx crayon after very nearly memorizing that video. Watch it. Take notes if necessary. Follow it exactly. Enjoy your shave."2 from Lead, I can't hear you...you're coming in broken and stupid...."

I more than respect all those guys that can do touch ups in 10-20 laps on anything. I start with that and usually average about 60.
