Default Wanting to make new scales.

I have a Dovo Pearlex and while the original scales are nice I am wanting to change it up a bit and put a new look on it by making abalone scales. Does anybody know of it being done or if it is possible. I have abalone shells that I can use. These will be the first scales I have ever made. I have looked at the articles concerning making scales but they all have to do with wood or synthetic materials. Any advice will be much appreciated.

There are real Abalone scale blanks available from Masecraft and other Knife Supply places,, If you look through the Customs & Restoration gallery you will find many of them

Maximilian has quite a few in there

To take the actual shell and break it down for use as scales I would really have to think about how to make it work, the first thought that just popped in my head was the way they made the Vintage MOP scales with pieces...
