Thank you everyone! I already purchased an alum block, a Trumper, it is great, but I guess I paid too much Oh well. I was told that my razor would be honed on a Belgian coticule, so it should be ready to go. In fact, I just received delivery notification of my razor. Can't wait to check it out. Wish me luck gents!

Shouldn't worry, in the scheme of things it Wont be that much of an expense, besides using costly things can make the experience more spesh, once you start collecting razors, pre and post shave ointments, soaps, creams, strops, hones, bowls, mugs, scuttles, brushes, brush stands, razor stands, aftershave etc the alum will seem cheap.
Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast

    All right!

So, I finally tried my new Dovo. I could not be happier. I tried my right cheek, it was excellent, so I tried the right side of my neck-excellent! I was so impressed, I did my entire face-not a cut or nick or even a HINT of burn or irritation-PHENOMENAL! I did not want to push my luck, so I stopped at a WTG shave. It is very smooth, I can't wait to try XTG or ATG. I am almost giddy, I have never had a shave without severely irritating my skin or butchering myself with a cartridge or even a DE razor. This was just wonderful!

Oh wow, well done. That must have been the most successful first timer to date! Did alum sting a bit?
