Thanked: 15th shave
Hi all,
Had my 5th SR shave tonight, feeling pretty chuft, thanks for all the info, SRP is great, cheers
I had around 5 to 7 days growth from memory, dont like to shave much.
I am using palmolive green shave cream from a tube or TBS maca root cream, I am trialing using a few drops of olive oil in my mix. I feel like its working glides a bit better.also letting it sit for a few minutes before i start shaving
I have a few nicks here and there and technique around nose and top lip need working on as I am a bit sore now. What direction strokes do you all use?
I am doing a full 3 pass shave and am feeling pretty smooth when finished except in a few spots where technique is in progress.
Using loreal aftershave cream and mixing a lug of aftershave into my hands before applying to my face, the wife reckons she can still get a waft of aftershave when i get home.
Sorry for the next couple of mug shots, just thought id show you the nick that bled like a stuck pig.and the final product.

I go WTG, then a pass that is ATG in my neck and on my cheeks and XTG around my lips, then ATG around my lips and a sideways touch-up on my lower chin. It takes a while to get to know your face! It sure took me long enough to get this routine, and I still sometimes find a tricky spot on my right cheek that is not as smooth as I would like.
As for technique, I always keep these things in mind:
- Never make a cutting motion (until you learn a scything motion, but for now, don't)
- Use as little pressure as you can
- Play with the angle until you find the right one. This differs per area of your face and per shaving direction.

Your one shave ahead of me but I've managed to avoids any nicks so far. Cheeks only WTG does the job well. Neck, chin & below lip is WTG & ATG. Below the nose is WTG and then XTG working from the center out on both sides (never ATG).

Thanked: 1Hey Guys,
I thought if I was guna do it I would go in big and try from scratch to do my whole face. I am doing something similar to you Laurens.
I still believe my razor is not as sharp as it should be but I have been working on it for the last 3 shaves and it is getting much better. I have a bengall razor i am about to hone and remove a small chip and try, as the salmander i am using is quite small about 9/16 width.
Definately think soaps etc have a big part to play to achieving a comfortable shave.
Brenngun These are my second lot of nicks as I managed a three line judder across my jawbone after talking a call on my phone and going back to it without thinking about it. Damn staff calling in sick a 6 in the morning.
Good luck in your future shaves as the little nicks hurt like a b**ch sometimes
