Shops in Belgium?
Hey guys,
I have a question regaring ingredients used for making aftershave balm.
Several posts, I've read talk about oils needed for homemade aftershave balm, or glycerin added to the lather.
The question I have, does any of you also make his own lather? If so, where do you buy the oils?
The same goes for shaving soaps, do you biy them online or are there shops around? I know "de messenwinkel' in Antwerp. However, I've read about other soaps they don't sell.
Advice or tips are more than welcome...Last edited by Yves81; 12-26-2013 at 05:08 PM.
Sometimes I feel normal.
Then it's time to lay down and wait for it to pass.

Well de Messenwinkel to my knowledge the only specialsed shop. I've heard from some other shops in diffrent cities but they sell shaving equipment as a "by-product". Like tobacco and pen shops.
But i can be wrong.
DriesAfter 3 months you look like you've fought a cat, after a year you may say you get it.
After 3 years you are even better and as long as you live, you are becoming a expert...

Thanked: 4In brussels there are a few knife shops which sell some shaving gear... There's also 1barber.be, and it has a physical store too.

Already answered on another thread but useful here:
Hello,
it is an old thread but it can be useful for newcomers to have some belgian references
So here somes adresses for 2017:
De Messewinkel, Mechelseplein 7 in 2000 Antwerpen (Mr Ollivander's like old shop) - Razors & Cutlery
Coutellerie du Roi, 27 passage du Nord, 1000 Bruxelles - Razors & Cutlery
Coutellerie Jamart ("Au grand rasoir"), 7 rue de l'Hôpital, 1000 Bruxelles - Razors & Cutlery
1Barber, Grand'Place 30, 1370 Jodoigne, dedicated exclusively to grooming - Barber services, razors, Equipment and shaving products
You can still find "Coutellerie Tilkin" on the web, but this shop ended its activities some years ago.
I hope this can help
Cheers

Hi
1Barber has the best selection, without a doubt. Gregory, the shop owner, is constantly on the lookout for new good products.
For ingredients for aftershave making, or for shaving soaps, I personally shop online.
By the way, if you need a bit of glycerine, I have plenty and I live nearby (Duffel )
Good hunting !!

Some good shops in that list but like decraew I shop online. btw on the dutch shaving forum a guy has started making soaps and they are good (search facebook for Scheermonnik), he is also willing to share info on making you're own soaps.

I only read there, my French is not that great when it comes to writing, I understand it perfectly but to much misspellings I'm afraid. Same thing on the German forums.
