Thanked: 0Straight razor restoration in Belgium?
wicked_edge forwarded me to here. I'm looking for a place in Belgium to restore my recently recieved Bartmann. It has a bad case of rust. If needed, I can provide pictures (Bartmann - Imgur). It was a gift from my grandfather so I'm not keen on sending it to other countries with the post (things tend to get lost...).
Thanks for your advice!

I would highly recommend you getting in touch with Bart Torfs, I believe he lives in Antwerp.
As far as your razor is concerned, I suspect that your scales are suffering from cell rot and should be replaced. This is probably what is making the blade rust.Last edited by Badgister; 12-08-2014 at 05:02 PM.

Thanked: 0Is he active on this forum? How can I contact him?
As for the scales: is it possible they are not infected? My grandfather kept it in his garage, if that is of importance. Could one still find the same scales? I want to keep it as original as possible...For sentimental feeling.

Welcome to SRP. Our very own Bruno, expert custom razor maker, is a native of Belgium. Send a PM (personal message) and I'm sure he can either help you himself, or point you in the right direction.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I must point out that "cell rot" is not a disease!
It is a chemical reaction, corrosion caused by acidic gases from the celluloid scales and it is necessary to get the scales off as soon as possible.

#7 and #8 - good advice but maybe a little late?
My service is good, fast and cheap. Select any two and discount the third.
