Straight razor courses?
I found a few straight razor courses in the lowlands, one at the messenwinkel in Antwerpen, one from classicshaving.eu in Tilburg.
Have any of you attended these or other courses? Are they usesfull, considering all the information available here and on youtube? They seem rather expensive to me and i was wondering if it would be worth the money and time....I mean it's mostly lerning by doing right?
I must admit the honing course sounds much more appealing..

That's a good question, have been looking at the course in Antwerpen also but it's fully booked for the next two months. I too wonder if it's worth the money and travel.

I went to a demonstration in the Koordenwinkel once, at that time I had just started straight razor shaving. It was interesting but not really necessary.
I think an actual course could be useful if
(1) you're a bit afraid of the razor and want to practice in a controlled environment
(2) you've been trying on your own and for some reason things keep going wrong (is it the razor? is it the stropping? is it the technique?)
Not useful at all in the other cases.
An alternative to taking courses is just contacting an SRP/B&B/Coticule.be member in your vicinity and meet up. That's the way I would go about it should I have to start all over.

I agree that, IF one needs a course (although it is perhaps the hardest part of our little hobby, it isn't exactly rocket science) it would be in honing.
Then again, lots of different "schools" around. For instance, koordenwinkel uses coticules for honing, and after that relies on pasted strops.
