    Default Gladde Jongens

    Hi guys,

I posted an add for a book called "Gladde Jongens" on the classifieds under the miscellanious section. Reason I post this message here is: I know many of you don't browse the classifieds section, and certainly not the miscellanious section, and I wanted you all to know about this. I OK'd this with Bruno before posting.

    Sincerely,
    Wim

For those who are still looking for the book, it can be found on the 'Boekenfestijn'.

    I picked up a copy at the Brussels edition for 2 - 3 €.

I'm wondering if the next edition will be better.
I really disliked the first edition after reading things like 'a chip that is deeper than half the bevel means the razor is lost' or 'antique razors are only good for looking at'.

He does have his own views on certain things, that's for sure. Maybe that's why he gave me a beautiful razor with such a chip in it to try out how it shaves because he knew I would hone it out before returning it. Since the first book he has taken up restoring razors so there is hope ;-)

    Ah... another saved soul
It'll be interesting to see how much his opinion changed.

Well, he still claims you can't have a decent shave with a razor that hasn't seen some paste or another.
At the most recent meeting Bart honed a W&B for him, took about half an hour on a coticule (duh!).
We didn't test it by shaving, just did HHT - which worked just fine.
The first thing Leo did was shaving some arm hair, nodding appreciatively and then doing a few laps on his huge red past-coated tension strop (or whatever these are called in English) !

Since he became involved in restoring razors himself, I think he changed his mind a bit

I found that disrespectful but I've gotten to know Leo a little better and he doesn't mean it in a bad way. He really has gone out of his way to help me, let's just say he has a very strong opinion about shaving related stuff.
