Thanked: 0Koordenwinkel?
So I'm on the lookout for a starter straight and since I prefer real-life shops to the internet, I figured it would be easiest to just go to de Koordenwinkel. Just a quick question: Do they hone the razor for you when you buy it? I've read multiple times that factory edges aren't shaveready... And if yes, will they hone it on a coti(or another stone) or just on a pasted strop? (If pasted strop: is that sufficient to take the factory edge to a shaveready edge?)

If they agree to work on the edge (not sure they do that) they will most probably use pasted strops.

I think they use coticule's as it is described in "Gladde Jongens", so "up to a point" and after that ... pastes.
So I don't think they teach what we call dilucot.
Basically they teach the time-proved system of using pastes of increasing abrasiveness as long as possible, and only then switch to stones. Or at least, they did when I got the explanation
There's +s and -s to that method, but basically it works very well.
... please do, and post their reply here!

Yes they will. Or at least, they did when I was there, several years ago.
IIRC, they honey it on a coticule with slurry for establishing a bevel, and then use a pasted strop to make it shaveready.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

when I went there for my first straight they said there was no need to hone it.
where you're from otherwise i'm willing to hone it for you
I do recommend you don't buy the pasted strop I did (almost) never used it(especially if you want to start honing your own razors in time) and if you know someone who live nearby who can do it for you.
kind regards
