George Washington
I wonder what his shave of the day looked like?

I saw this at Fort Ticonderoga, but have absolutely no idea how they know/reckon this was yer man's razor.
Here's the pivot end rotated and zoomed in. Looks like "MADE FOR [...]" I can't make out the last bit.
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

This reminds me of a thread on another forum, where the question of what Thomas Jefferson's shave might have been like came up. I wrote, "Maybe one of his slaves shaved him." And the response was, "Let he who is without sin throw the first rotten tomato." So I ended up searching on the Monticello website, wherein it mentioned that Jefferson was indeed shaved by one of his slaves, and that the slave had accompanied him to Paris while Jefferson was Ambassador to France. And while in Paris, the slave was enrolled in the finest barbering school. I don't remember exactly, but I seem to recall him being a relation to Sally Hemings as well.
All this to say that with George Washington, a similar barber-shaving scenario might have been part of the social order of the day.Last edited by Brontosaurus; 12-07-2018 at 01:10 AM.
