i have the steve woodhead scuttle in blue with red veins! i was drunk when i ordered it and accidentally chose the xxl scuttle which is just too big and heavy. but it is a great scuttle all same, i have had water straight out the kettle poured in it and it withstood it but the lather would get too hot and dry up. i find the best thing to do is fill the well and the bowl area with hot water from tap and keep your brush in the bowl area to presoak. when you come out the shower pour that water out then refill the well area with fresh hot water from the tap and that is perfect temp

Yes! ...... what he just said. Hot water from the tap is more than fine!
Mine is a size T2... and even that is larger than I expected. Great though!

Basically it is a double walled bowl. Pour hot water into the spout... and then make your lather.
By the time you come back for the second and third pass the brush and lather is still deliciously warm on your face.
He has some rather nice looking stuff, and it doesn't seem overly expensive, though I don't know what anyone else sells scuttles for, if I hot lathered I might be tempted to trade in my double bowl set up.
Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast
