Cheers steph, I will let him know. Just so you know "my friend" isn't really me :)

S'allll Good mate !:) I'm off to work now...Cheers !
I have done 4 shavings with my Semogue SOC
I can not say i am impressed but i can not say i am disappointed either.
Of course it's still in "break-in" process so i can not judge it very strictly but:
I bowl lathering with Mama Bear's soaps the results are good
With face lathering with creams the results are not good
Although i soak the brush about 8-10' in face lathering seems that the knot absorbs too much
I am not happy with the lather in face but yes the massage in my face skin is good.
I will wait some weeks so the "break-in" will completed and then i will mention the results
Till then some patience and scepticism.
Well..I don't know what to tell the skeptics. I have two Semogues now .One was given to me because the fella had some of the same complaints as some here about break in. Both of mine have broken in within 3 weeks time and brush like a dream and I have no issues with lather. Only thing I can think of is that folks are expecting a badger feel and it's not going to happen. Different strokes I guess (pun). Good luck.
True that huh.:)
On the lather issue...y'know,sometimes my lather has gathered at the knot but I've had that same deal happen with my badger. I get great lather though and again I don't know what to say about it . I have hard water also so go figure ??
Don't get me wrong when I say they took about 3 weeks to break in, that does not mean I have any trouble with face lathering either my Semogue 1350 or Omega boar brushes. They will work equally well with creams and hard soaps too. They are definitely different from the various silver tip badgers I have but that is to be expected. I really like the shape of the Semogue 1350 handle, very comfortable to load the brush and face lather with. I just don't get short stubby handles. A good boar brush is one of the best values in shave brushes IMHO.
Bob
The fella who gave me his Semogue kept complaing that his brush was too stiff and I would ask him if he soaks his brush. I got a blank look. So I explained to him about soaking.....he said he didn't have time for that. I explained how it prolonged the life of the brush and break in and bristle wear etc. ......blank look. Then he finally gave me the brush. Now , every time he see's me he's always asking me how the brush is doing ? Fine I reply..."works like a dream". Blank look....... what's a guy to do cept shave .
You mentioned flow though of the lather from knot to face and I found the same thing. Some brushes give up the lather well and some hog it. It doesn't matter if it is boar or badger either. I hate to mention it in this thread but the best brushes I have had to date for creating a lather and passing it through as needed have been Muhle silver tip synthetic brushes.
Bob
I get it. You know in the long scheme of things what it really comes down to is...."it's a brush for heavens sake" and it's far better than squirting goo from a can into your hand and getting that oh so chemically fresh feeling right ?! So if whatever brush used is working........well....then it's working lol right ??!:D
I'm off now guys. Work calls......
Yeah, I should probably stop being so lazy, it's just that I don't have the time to soak my brush whilst I shower) :)
I suppose that brittle bristles would be more prone to snapping, but in seriousness I get on pretty well with my current lather making ways, but I should try the soak again I suppose.
I have the same brush as Steph, posted in the beginning,, I actually won it in a Contest on another forum :)
I am thinking it has to be about 2 years old now and honestly I do that exact same thing that he is talking about, I soak it in very hot water while I shower and it makes for a great "Lather on the Face" experience...
It makes me think of that line from Forrest Gump "Simple is what Simple does" everytime I use it :)
There you go, everyone is a bit different with how they do things shave brush related. I never soak any of my brushes, boar, badger or synthetic, just swirl them around in the cold sink water a bit, wet my face with them and then start loading the brush. I add a bit o water by dipping the tips in while loading and then face lather.
Bob
:) Yeah I read about you guys Bob, don't get the Brush handle wet, don't get the scales wet, honestly I don't know how you guys do it
I am a "WET Shaver" emphasis on the word wet, I get water and lather everywhere, from the razor to the brush to the mirror, countertop and floor.. It honestly looks like two kids had a Supersoaker squirt gun battle in the bathroom after I shave..
I clean it up, dry it off, and move on...
Oi gummer,
Threw the brush in a sink of cold water whilst I had a shower ( mashed it into the sink a bit to make sure it sank) had a shower and made my lather. Itmay have been better. :)
I might try bobs technique tomorrow, which is what I used to do when cart shaving. May as well make the most of me holiday.
I'm kinda liking the sound of a super soaker shave concept........Guess it's the juvenile in me ha ha.;)
Not !!!!...............
More like super soaker squirt guns for wetting yer gob.:rofl2:
Slight possibility..........maybe. Then you might think of something absurd like.....multi blade disposable razors ........ha !
Good thinking, I will break a few d/e blades in half, put them in a frame with some wire in front and attach the whole shebang to a handle with a pivot at the top.
If I made the blade holder thingy ( might call it a cartridge) removable you could recuse the handle bit.
this sounds interesting Ed, would i be able to save a lot of time in the morning with this new way?
Gents:
In my particular case I do have a two band badger 2011 number 2 limited edition semogue. I have to say that the hair quality of those brushes it is a 1. In regards the handle they are very ergonomics which is real nice in terms of holding the brush for long periods. In regards how the brush performs I have to say that it is a brush of very hard soaps such as MWF, P160 etc. But in the other hand works real nice in creams too. In regards the markings such as insignias or sticker they are good because the ink does not fade away.
My only concern about the brushes is the final termination to the customer or presentation to the customer. I think they need to create a more style presentation pkg not just the plastic transparent tube. I think I deserve more for the spending. The thing to me is that when you take out from the tube the brush you see some hairs more long that others and I do believe that such thing needs to be take care off on the factory. Even thou the detail has an explanation that definitely needs to be take in care off in the factory.
In the other hand they are real nice brushes and I will keep mine.
thanks
