It wasn't little chips. Just two big ole chips. The only thing I can think of is maybe the wood swells when I soak the brush? Anyway, this is what I now have.
Knock on wood, no problems with mine yet.
Same here, no problems yet with my 1350. Mind you I don't soak my brushes and don't use hot water.

I've soaked mine for 10 min before and have used both hot and cold with no issues. I believe the key is to always make sure the brush is hanging upside down when drying and to also be mindful of knocking the brush around.
That's what can happen to those spray on finishes. Temperature extremes can do them in. You often see that on cheap wood products made in China that look great when you get them but they don't wear well.
