Thanked: 1interchangeable brush handles?
as I am making brush handles I am placing a knot in the handle to see what I like best. I can't decide which I like best, and then my wife had an idea...
using round rare earth magnets, would it be possible or feasible to create an interchangeable system?
maybe place a magnet on the knot and a few in the handle?

Thanked: 3223There is an interchangeable brush knot system offered by Muhle and there might be others. Muhle's knot bundle in their system is contained in a threaded cup which fits certain handles. You can read a description here http://www.muehle-shaving.com/shop/b...87/189/31_K_56 .

Yeah, rare earth magnets will work I think. They have small ones about the size of a smartee that are very strong.
I'm not sure how the drying process will be effected. Might want to leave the knot in there till it dries so it doesn't bloom near the base.

You can make a trick with a screw
In some FS brushes that's the way hold the chrome base in the handle
Make a patent with the knot to the handle
One problem is the moisture, this way you can have the whole situation "sealed" like the epoxy does.

The magnets are cheap as chips on eBay, a couple of 20mm ones should do.

Thanked: 375that's a great idea! You could always use a threaded bolt and sink it in the handle, then put an insert in the cup that holds the brush, that of course will thread onto the the bolt.
