    Wash with shampoo and then do a couple lathering cycles without putting it on your face. I haven't met a smell yet that can survive that treatment.

    just got another one so I wanted to try out a cleaning. I rinsed in hot water for about 5 min. then hand lathered in shampoo for about 5 more, then mug lathered in hot water with oxyclean for about 5 more. good rinse in hot then soaped it up. smell is all but gone

    I just palm lather for a while, rinse under warm water, swirl against palm and so on. After a while it's gone. If it isn't gone after that it will probably be gone after a few shaves.
