Thread: Basics on knots and handle

First timer here.

Hello all. Just realized that the "brush" I had my eye on as a first brush was just a knot. So much for the cheap $22 24mm silvertip, *but* I discovered the same site has resin 24mm handles for $6.

That being said, I don't know exactly what I'm in for. Do I just push the knot into the handle?? Or should I just bail on the silvertip and look at a Semague boar.

Lost. Need help.

I don't know , I've never done a brush before.
I'm going to try one soon, so I will be following this thread,,,,go for it, I say.

Whelp. I email Larry @ WD and asked him for instructions. I will share them here if he allows me to. Don't know why he wouldn't, but I'd respect him if he said no.

Found a link or two on another site, but I think I'm going to park it and grab the popcorn. I'd like to see the search engine results point here as I'm already pretty grateful with the info, forum and member input and interest.

larry knows how to make brushes,he will tell you all you need to know,just make sure the handle he provides is bored to provide the proper loft for the knot you have,and go easy on the glue.

WD will glue 'em up and ship 'em to ya at a *very* reasonable price.

I actually just ordered one of those a couple of days ago; I went ahead and got the one that comes with a soap sample as well. Great deal! Looking forward to receiving it and trying it out!
