Just ordered a better brush
I have been using one of the cheap Van der hagen brushes from Walmart since I started straight razor shaving in January and now some of the hairs are starting to fall out in clumps when I dry it on a towel.
So I ordered a red Omega pro 49 off eBay and it will be here Monday. Can't wait to try it as I hear such great things about it and it's less then $15.

I'm sure you will see a difference.

There is no reason to dry a brush on a towel, and that will place undue stress on the bristles. All you have to do is shake out excess water and place it bristles down in a stand or upright on the counter. You can shake the water out on your wife. Women love that sort of thing.

Yes, that is a good boar brush and a step above the Van der Hagen. Once it breaks in it will serve you well. Enjoy it.

Thanks guys. Yes it is a little stiff still but I can see how it lathers up faster on my face than the cheaper one I had.

The more you use it the softer it will become. make sure you soak it a good bit before each use.

I start out with my boars dry, dipped in hot water. I find in order to get the best out of them, the shafts should remain dry as long as possible, really as in any brush, IMO. Dab of water here and there while lathering gets it right. Also, something is to be said about face-lathering with boar. The bomb! I have rediscovered them lately and they seem to find more "face time" than my badgers!

I rest my case.
