    rowdi,

Those are both excellent badger brush choices, but have you considered a boar hair brush?

An excellent boar hair shaving brush (ie. Omega two band boar or a Semogue) can be obtained for a fraction of the cost of a badger brush and it would work very well with your shaving soaps.

Not to stir the pot, but have you considered looking at second hand brushes. I've picked up quite a few from this and other forums. Only was was disappointing, and truth be told, I anticipated that one. I've got horse, synthetic, boar and numerous grades of badger... and you know what my "best" brush is?... yeah, me neither. Each one is a good brush, but nothing really jumps out and says to me that I may as well sell all my others. Each one has it's benifits, and it's draw backs. I was religious about using badger until about a week ago, when I broke down and started trying to my "back ups" and I found that the Vie-Long Horse hair that I've got actually works much better than I thought it would. It is softer than anticipated, maybe doesn't have the backbone of one of my better badgers, but it works well with my ToBS soap. BLUF: brushes, like razors, and hones, and anything else we use, are about 85% perosonal preference and only 15% actual production quality. I've never owned an EJ brush, but I do have a couple Vilfux and have had no issue with either one. Not sure if this will help or not.

Frank Shave silver tip. I'm liking mine alot. Shed a few hairs out of the box, but havnt noticed any sense. Very soft and has a pretty generous knot.

Got mine in the ~30 range from star shaving.

If it doesn't have to be badger, a Semogue or an Omega boar brush in the $20 range is an excellent choice.

To be honest I'd like to go with a best badger.

I've ordered a mikes natural shaving soap

But don't know if ill bowl lather or face lather,

    So I need something versatile
