The perfect brush for me, with help from you
Ok so I've had a couple of brushes and currently use a Simpson 2band chubby in super..........i find the knot of the chubby is too dense and the handle a bit uncomfortable.
My favourite brush is my cheap travel brush that has a high loft, is in super and is very floppy! (However I don't want to use my travel brush on a daily basis)
Im looking for a top brush in super that has a nice high loft and is not too dense so is quite floppy! Not too worried about the cost.
thanks in advance!

I have a Dovo Silvertip with Micarta handle that fits that description pretty well. It was my first silvertip purchase, and though I prefer a denser knot with lower loft, I still go back to it on occassion. It has a nice long handle (especially compared to a chubby) and is the most comfortable brush I have when it comes to lathering in my deep scuttle.

Go uncut, handmade Silvertip, but remember that the quality of these hairs has a limited loft. The very best tend to have a moderate loft and density, because the badger hairs only grow so long around the neck area from where they are harvested. My German made Dovo silvertip is a prime example of this optimal compromise, and is among my favorite brushes. Most of the top brush manufacturers produce quality silvertip models. One last point, I prefer a pointed, rather than rounded, loft because it gives me better control around my nose. Good luck.

Well, if you like floppy then check out Vulfix. Their Silvertips are quite floppy and they have a huge assortment of handle sizes to please anybody.

I hear Kent's are also quite floppy. I've never owned one so I can't say for sure but have read about them. I can vouch for the Vulfix though. They are a bit floppy.

Thanks guys I was half way to a kent.......and then a vulfix.........but ended up going for a mühle sophist in silvertip! Hopefully it's the one (I'm sure even if it is I'll need another in the not so distant future!)

Funny how it is different strokes for different folks. My Simpson/Vulfix Manchurian chubby 3 is my favorite brush. Dense, some scritch, great backbone ....... for what you are looking for I would recommend a Thater 2 band. Butter soft tips but still has backbone. I cannot abide a floppy brush so YMMV.

Ok used the muhle sophist a few times now, I like it but I don't love it......on reflection I do t think I like really floppy but I do in comparison to the chubby 2 in super (3 band), that thing is just too dense and a real pain in the a** when it comes to get lather for my second pass.
The sophist is nice but I could definitely go bigger with a little bit more backbone, although it has to be butter soft!!

Thanked: 3225I know you are not looking for a synthetic but you might find the Muhle XL synthetic silver tip to your liking. It is a bit floppy and a bit scrubby too as well as gives up lather well. I have a Muhle Retro silver tip that is densely packed so it is a bit of both soft and scrubby but does not give up the lather too easily. My preference is for the Muhle XL synthetic silver tip fiber. The Muhle XL is not expensive to take a flyer on.
