You can see why I bought this brush. 3" handle and 2" loft, It stands well out of the scuttle. My 3½" badger (half handle half loft) with its softer bristles almost slumps over on its side if I leave it in the scuttle and even if I don't my fingers still get creamed when mixing lather. I expect the Omega to slump a little too as it softens with use (this is unused) but should still stand out far enough to keep my fingers dry. A shallower scuttle would help but I didn't think of it when I bought this one. I like the feel of the stiffer brush and it makes as good a lather as my old worn out badger. What was surprising is how fast the stiffer bristle can pick up soap.

I'm wondering if there are any comparable badger brushes out there? I think it would need a longer handle and shorter loft to get the same effect. Custom made is also an option.

There is way more variety in Badgers than Boar. Check the usual outfits like Vulfix and Simpson and you'll see comparable brushes.

Yeah, the problem was browsing through dozens of brushes looking for something. I just Googled "130mm shaving brush" and got some three prospects. (slaps forehead)

Grooming, Shaving, Skin Care, Lifestyle - MenEssentials

Merkur Vision Silvertip Brush, Satin Chrome Handle | RoyalShave

Vulfix 40S Super Badger Shaving Brush, Extra Large | Fendrihan Shaving Store

    Two in Canada too.

The first two I'd think were too short, not interested in anything under 130mm height. The Rooney is the first link I posted, good to know it's at Fendrihan as well. I'll live with the boar for now and save a few bucks, at one tenth the price I can't complain.

Yea, that is the kicker when you start looking at top grade badger hair brushes, price. I have a couple of nice badger hair brushes but my cheap Shoppers Drug Mart Omega boar brush does the job too.
