    Default Plisson and the pope

Let me tell you a story.

In the olden days Plisson used local badgers. These badgers lived on the high plaines in the alps where they survived eacht year a harsh winter.
This resulted in a superb kind of badger hair. So Plisson payed hunters to hunt the little beast and bring the hides to them

If you whould hold them next to a Top-of-the-shelve modern days brush you whould see that it is just a little bit more white. Their quality is so high that you can call yourselve lucky if you ever find one.
Even in those days they where not cheap. (unless you knew somebody who worked there).

But as in modern day life, life wasn't fair back than. It is said that when a new pope was elected Plisson whould make a special brush with the best badger hair they can possible find and give it as a gift to His Holiness.
But than came the moment that the french badger became protected. Too many people wanted a nice brush I figure. Also hunters became to expensive. So they had to source there brush from somewhere else like these days.

But it is said that these days when the new pope is elected a french badger mysteriously disappear and a small package is delivered to the pope some week later

At least that is what they say...

Who else has a nice story about a brush?
(I don't really know how much of this is acurate. But i liked the story.)

Napoleon had a custom Plisson brush. It is oversized with a huge Sterling Silver handle.

If you mean Napoleon's brush it's in a museum in France somewhere.
