I have had a number of boars and also badgers. In general, the boars are stiffer and exfoliate more thoroughly, but I've found that they don't hold the amount of lather that the better badgers will, so you end up going back to the puck for multiple pass shaves. I still rotate both, if I had to choose for desert island purposes it would be a best badger.

So my humble 2¢ would be get a badger and compare to the boar that you already have.
