Thread: Need anew brush

Hi all, need some brush buying advice. My Edwin Jagger Silver tip badger is still working fine but I'm in the mood for something special. I have an angular face so I prefer smaller thick brushes. I'm thinking Simpson, Thater, Semogue, Omega.....??? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I only have my Edwin Jagger also at this stage I think it is a great first brush,
but my next will be an up grade I am definately going for one of Pixelfix's hand made items.

check out his collection he has some absolutely beautiful brushes (& loom strops on his site I might add)
he can make to your specs or order from his many pre-made options of bases & knots
well worth a look at least

I just received a Semogue 1305 boar, and it's great, nice and scritchy on the face, and I also ordered a Shavemac (thanks JimmyHAD)...good reading in both these threads...should answer all your questions...helped me lots!

There are so many choices out there it ain't even funny. Check the online sites for all the brands you are thinking about and check the custom guys. Narrow it down by price, and design and badger type.

Yes, too many choices - based on the smaller thicker spec in the OP, Simpsons Chubby's are the definition. They aren't cheap (I've had several, only one is left). On a budget the Simpson Duke 2 in Best would/could be a winner

I would agree the Simpson fits the bill. But if looking for a lower price the omega 599 or 615 fits the small part but elegant is in the eye of the beholder both have resin handles

You could try the Wee Scot if you want a smaller brush.

If you want a smaller sized brush and the backbone of a T-Rex, try the Semogue 620.
