New Liojuny brush
In the last couple weeks I took a gamble on two new shave brushes. Both of them were purchased on the cheap. The first was a Semogue 1305 that I didn't like one bit. I guess I'm not one for boar. But yesterday this new LS brush arrived and seems much more my speed and much more promising. For $24 it was worth checking out. I have not used it yet, just ran some Proraso through it to shake off the initial gaminess of it. My initial reaction as I looked at it out of the box was that it appeared to have a knot that had an uneven distribution of the hair (see the second pic). But it now seems as though it was simply the way it was wrapped now that it has been wet. It was their largest knot and in silver tip. The softness of the hair seems a little less than my other silver tips. But I seem to recall them needing a few shaves to get the most out of them. It may be too early to say that it doesn't measure up. It seems to have a good density to the knot and some backbone. I'll know more when I get to use it. In spite of not having used it yet, all indications are that it's a damn good value for the money. The only negative thing that I can see at this point is that the emblem/sticker came off immediately.....if that matters. More on Tuesday about it.

Thanked: 375Looks nice, I like the yellow handle. I can't even make a brush for that price especially a Silvertip. That's a steal...

I'll post my impression of it tomorrow after I get a chance to use it. I think its gonna be fine. I think the real take away is that you can get a good brush without having to spend a fortune on one. One of my favorite brushes was purchased for $40. Its a big silver tip and is wonderful. I spent $50 on a Frank Shaving brush that I suspect was supposed to be an imitation Chubby. It too is a great brush. And then I have two Simpson brushes. They too are great.....but they cost significantly more money. So at $24, I'm not expecting earth shattering greatness. But if its a good serviceable brush, it'll be a victory.

Ok, I've had a chance to run some soap through this brush to get any funk out of it and had a chance to actually use it today. In short, I'm loving this brush. This is NOT a floppy brush. It is very similar to my Simpsons PJ3. I may give the Simpsons a couple extra points for a greater backbone but it isn't a tremendous difference. I noticed only a couple hairs that freed themselves during the shave but that's to be expected with a new brush. If you're a new guy to wet shaving and need to cut some of the cost out of the initial set up, I HIGHLY recommend getting one of these. At $24 you WILL NOT find a better value out there. I will have to see how well it holds up over time. But for now I'd make this purchase again if I needed one.

Thanked: 19I have a Liojuny brush - 26mm knot, black ebony handle. I too was worried about slightly uneven bloom when I first received it a few months ago, but with only a few uses it rectified itself nicely. Its a fantastic brush, great backbone, and simply amazing value for money.
