Default Fathers Day brush gift ideas.

    Gentlemen,
As I'm sure you're all aware, Fathers Day is approaching. Both my Father and my Father-in-law have shown a great deal of interest in wet shaving. I figure the best, and easiest, way to spark that interest is with a gift for Father's Day. They both loved the scent of Arko, so I'm thinking about getting them a few Arko sticks and a brush for Father's Day. I do not have a bunch of money to spend, so my question is. What are a few brands of good quality, inexpensive brushes? The handle does not need to be fancy, a plain jane brush will do.
    Thank you for your help

Matt depending what your budget tops out at will decide the range of brush your looking at. If your looking low end a boar brush from omega or semogue would be nice. If you can swing a bit more badger is my choice. On the other hand the Van der hagan premium kits the big box stores carry are a decent start. Brush soap an mug like $20 range around here.

I love the feel of my badger. I'd like to avoid a boar brush, and I have no experience with horse or synthetic. My guess is that they will both stick to face lathering for a while.

Whipped dog would be one option for badger on a budget. The golden nib also has handles so it would be some assembly required. The pen work line starts around $10 for the handle plus knot of your choice/budget.

    Matt,

For badger hair brushes, depending on your budget, Thater, Simpson, Rooney, Vulfix, Kent, Jagger, Muhle and Plisson all have fine brushes. For starters, I especially like the Simpson Commodore, Model #3 in best badger (About $79) as an ideal all-around brush.

For boar bristle brushes, again depending on your budget, try Semogue and Omega. I especially like the Semogue Models 1305, 620, 830 and Owners Club — these are inexpensive brushes and highly regarded.

Just seen a week or so ago that stirling soap company has a couple badger brushes for sale. The price was good too. If that didn't work out I say whipped dog has the best options vs price IMO.

Yes Stirling has a good entry level badger for not much money ,, I thought it was 20-25 dollars, I bought one when they first came out to equip a friend who wanted to start down this wet shaving road , he's had it for a couple of months and no complaints. But I'm sure there are others out there too for that price, Tc. Good luck
