Thanked: 0different brushes for different cremes
Does anyone use dedicated brushes for different cremes?
I have been using TOBS Sandalwood, and I recently bought some TOBS St. James. I love them both, but the brush smells like St. James now.
I have an escali, $12.50 badger brush i bought on amazon.
Not sure if anyone here does this.
I know that for pipe smokers, pipes are dedicated, many times, for different tobaccos.

I will use a certain type of brush on the various creams and soaps.
My reasoning is not based on scent though, only stiffness, kind of hairs and size.
For instance, my wonderful Plisson high mountain white badger brush is dedicated for creams only.
My Simpson Chubby in two band badger is a killer on hard soapsBjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

Your brush will change in scent after whatever soap or creme you use.

Nah, not necessary to have brushes dedicated to specific soaps or creams. Like mentioned above, a brush will usually smell like whatever you used it with last, if anything.

If a brush is properly rinsed out it will retain no sent. None of mine have any scent from soaps and creams.
One quality brush is all you need. It may be easier to have a stiffer brush for soaps and a softer one for creams but thats highly optional. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Those smokers do that because the pipe absorbs the smell of the tobacco.
Changing the type of tobacco will destroy the aroma of the new one
They feel the difference because they inhale it.
In brushes there is no issue, your face will not understand the previous scent
Even soaps-creams with strong scent will not leave any "ghosts" from your last shaving if you rinse the brush right.

I use different brushes for different lather, scuttle or mug, etc. Some for a particular beard growth, razor. Mood, even!

I rest my case.

Gentlemen, I have trimmed my brush lineup to six silvertips, with medium backbone, 24 and 25 mm knots, and use them freely with soaps and creams. After the shave, the brushes are dried thoroughly, but even so, some do retain a mild fragrance, especially after creams such as Xpec, but it is not strong enough to compete with the next soap or cream's fragrance.
