An Elegant Brush
Gentlemen,
Wood turning artist Brad Sears ( https://www.etsy.com/shop/BradSearsWoodturner) made this shave brush for me and it is quite handsome. I trust, the brush would have pleased a most distinguished Victorian gentleman for his daily shave.
I gave Brad some ideas of what I wanted for a handle and knot and he did the rest. The brush has a 26mm knot and 54mm loft, in the Golden Nib Premium Silvertip, set in a cocobolo wood handle set at 65mm high. The handle's ergonomics are perfect for my hands. Brad has designated the brush as OB1, and offers future models numbered in sequence commercially.
I am delighted with the brush: the design and the feel, everything. I will lather up with it for tomorrow's the Shave-Of-The-Day. Enjoy.

Thanked: 1587Nice brush Obie! But, I'm not sure about the Victorian gentlemen - I mean, I agree that they'd like the brush, but unless the wood came from some rare and nearly extinct tree I reckon they'd probably go for white rhino, elephant, etc...

That's a handsome brush Obie and I know how you can make it extra special. Cousin Cletus says you take it where that fancy hatch looking thing on the top of the handle is and drill down making a small cavity. Then you put these thingies they use to make Mexican Jumping Beans. The idea is the brush will simply start moving and it will lather itself automatically.
Then you'll really have something. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Handsome, classic and fitting for Obie the Assyrian.

Ah, Razorfeld, my dear friend, bless your heart for the kind words. A full-blooded Assyrian, indeed. I was named after Ashur-Uallit I, the mighty king who ruled Assyria around 1300 B.C. I tell the dearly beloved and my two daughter that I, therefore, have kingly powers over them, but they snicker and say, "Whatever." There's no respect.

Obie, as you know, those closest see the cracks. Only the distant and disinterested have an automatic respect for those that rule (because they don't know you it is an automatic response to start by being polite till otherwise proven). The old saying, "A Prophet in your own land? Never."
Just sent you a friendship reuest."The sharpening stones from time to time provide officers with gasoline."
