Default Rooney GS Brush & Ivory Moss Scuttle

Here are a couple of recent purchases of mine. I thought I'd post up and recommend them to others, since IMO they are both superb.

First is a Rooney Silvertip brush, with faux ivory handle. 105mm tall with a 20mm knot.

Rooney make these for The Gentlemans Shop in Hungerford UK, hence they are badged 'GS' rather than Rooney. IMO these are a superb deal, not only do they look and perform great, but they cost only £30 for a Silvertip brush, whereas a similar sized Rooney Style 1 in Super costs £48!!

I'm lucky to live only a few miles away from The Gentlemans Shop so I was able to check out all of the brushes there first hand, and compare them against each other. The GS/Rooney was a hands down favourite even without taking price into account - it looked the best and felt the best in my hand.

Next is the familiar Moss Scuttle from Sara Bonnyman. I previously owned a large scuttle from Sara in Cobalt Blue, but stupidly sold it. I've missed it ever since and when I heard she was selling them in a new colour (Ivory) I placed an order, this time a small sized one. It suits the Rooney brush nicely, and even goes well with my new RW razor.

    Beautiful!!!

I'm loving the ivory colored (coloured) Moss scuttle. I've not liked the other colors but this is simply attractive.

I also love how each individual piece in this set compliments the others. Almost looks as if they were made to be in this set.

    Enjoy it!!

Steelforge - congratulations on your new purchases. Sara has been using that particular finish on her pottery for along time, but it was her idea to extend it to the scuttles.

I see you are in Swindon - I was born and lived till I was 18 in Chiseldon.

    Hi Dr Moss.

I know Chiseldon quite well, it's only a few miles from where I live. Actually I was born just near there too, at the RAF hospital at Wroughton (which has now been demolished).

    Small world.

The ivory is a great colour for scuttles, good move of Sara's producing them in this colour too.

That's a sweet set up. Congrats. I have the large Moss scuttle and it's my favorite.
