Thanked: 12Any opinions on the Vie Long Gonzalo?
Has anyone an opinion on the Vie Long gonzalo 04102? The price point is great. mixed boar/horse hair and damn nice looking. How does it rate against something like a Semogue 2000?

I don't know squat about the particular brush however in general when they mix hair you usually wind up with the worst qualities of both.

Thanked: 12Due to my experimental tendencies I believe I will probably try several brushes and find the strong points in them all. thanks for the input and suggestions.

They have been making badger/boar and horse combos since the 1800s. Back then badger was considered the supreme and boar the common mans brush so mix the two and you have something for the common man to strive for. They were not such hot brushes and the combos pretty much fell by the wayside until recently with some outfits.
