Ok.............I guess it's just me!
I have this Vie Long Horsehair brush. Love the thing, it was a gift from Tarkus a while back. I dig it with soaps, but the short handle proved cumbersome using in a mug or scuttle. I was really careful doing this. I figured Darl would not be happy if I ruined it. (I also had a backup plan to send it to HarryWally if I screwed it up!). I had a wooden handle left from my 'dipped in Rustoleum' project a while back. (Much to Hirlau's amusement!)
I figured only black would go with the orange. I would never be able to match the orange anyway! Went out to the shelf and found only black engine enamel and some black wrinkle finish in a spray can. Not going to the hardware, so wrinkle-finish was decided upon.
So I inserted the hairs in a PVC tube and taped it to the handle. Chucked it up in the lathe and gently cut off the bottom part of the handle, stopping just about the time I figured it might spit it out!
Finished the job with a hacksaw and found center, went to the drill press using a wood boring bit to sink a hole down to the plug for the handle, hand sanded the edges and polished on the buffer. I drilled a multitude of tiny holes in both sides to help the epoxy grab.
Done with the top, I sanded the handle rough and Sprayed it with the wrinkle finish paint. This took a few trys as to wild humidity and temp swings we have had lately, but light heat gun after drying a while made the wrinkles come out well.
Epoxied together it looks pretty cool. Cleaning the tape residue off the top with WD40 and paper towel erased the logo, so I topped it off with a Jack-O-Lantern sticker from the Hobby Lobby. While I was there, I snagged a Halloween bowl with which to make a scary scuttle! I have a nice orange razor. I got a sticker for it as well!
Here is the process and the result. Silly, I know, but only 10 bucks spent!

I rest my case.
