    Default Brush storing

Does the brush have to stand with the bristles down(in a stand)?

Until it is dry, I would hang it in a stand with the bristles down.

I don't think "they have to stand". If the adhesive holding the knot is solid you should have no issue. Squeeze the knot and get rid of excess moisture after each use and shake it out. I have shaving brushes I made approaching 5 yrs old and stand all mine.

After rinsing, I squeeze out the remaining water and store them bristles down. I have no scientific proof that one way is superior to the other. Just be sure you store them in an open air environment. Don't store them away wet in a closed cabinet.

I always hang them at home , but the first time I went back to work , I didn't have a hanger so I just stood them up ,, a year later my brushes don't seem to be having any issues, I do dry them and flick the water out as best I can , but I would hand them if I would ever remember to bring a hanger out to the field with me , I should I,m here 275 days of the year. I store them down until dry (the next day). The brushes not in use are kept standing up in a cabinet just waiting to have their turn.

Never stored a brush inverted knot down until I saw it was recommended here. Previously my normal routine was to rinse the brush thoroughly, give the knot a gentle squeeze and shake the remaining water out before storing them upright. I am still not convinced that storing them inverted till they are dry is really necessary but it will not hurt any.

I think if you shake most of the water out it doesn't really matter. The important thing is to have good exposure to the air so it can dry.
