Any one tried a 2 peice scuttle?
Pros and cons of 1 piece vs 2? I have not used any scuttle before but I kind of like the idea of this. Wondering if anyone has used this particular one.

About the only advantage I can think of is you can clean it better so over time you don't have to worry about mildew or similar growing on the inside although I've never heard of that happening.
To me the two piece is a little more klutzy and if you're not careful I guess you could drop one of the two sections. I guess it can also move around as your using it.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

I actually used two bowls, one smaller than the other, that I picked up at Target for a few bucks, as a 'poor man's two piece scuttle.' Worked okay, but then I got a Moss and stuck with that until I became a dedicated cold water shaver. Now a scuttle is just for holding the brush bristles down in cold water while I let a little water soak the puck. That is a nice looking outfit. Like thebigspendur said, you just have to be careful you don't drop one on the other.

Thanked: 2591looks like a typical double wall except that the inner bowl is removable. It looks like it will be moving around when swirling a brush in it, which for me would be pretty annoying to me.

One other thing to add ......... Sara Booneyman, the maker of the scuttle designed by Chris Moss, began putting a raised band of material in the bottom of the lather bowls she makes to accompany the scuttles. This was at the behest of Jim Ayers. Other makers have by and large followed suit. This helps keep the dollop or cream from being chased all over the bowl ahead of the brush. It assists in ease of lathering whether soap or cream. I'd email the maker of that scuttle set to make sure he does that.

Just be sure the inner bowl doesn't move or float while your whipping up lather.

I was thinking it would be easier to pick up the top bowl up to lather leaving the bottom bowl set down somewhere as it's lighter and smaller.

You have a valid point which may work just fine. I was considering the loss of heat transfer when you removed the inner bowl.

I have used a two piece scuttle like that - it works well and is easier to fill and empty than the double wall type. During the summer I use just the upper bowl.
My service is good, fast and cheap. Select any two and discount the third.
