Thanked: 2Thirsty Brush
Hey guys from reading the forums sounds like santa was kind to the wet shavers this xmas!
I received a Semogue 1250 for christmas..I really enjoy it. I have been using a AoS brush that comes with their basic sets which is supposed to be badger, however I find it to small and not quiet stiff enough.
My only question with the Semogue, is it seem to be a very thirsty brush...as in soaks up a ton of water and a ton of lather. I have tried it with a proraso green and AoS creams. It could just be luck with amount of water I am using, but finding it tough to find the sweet spot.
Any thoughts about what soaps work best with bristle or should I be underwatering and only facelather?
thanks folks!

For thirsty burshes i usualy make lather twice without rinsing.
In plain the idea is to make lather first time it is meant to and then you remove any lather from the top of the brush (around 1 cm from top) and than soap it up again and create new lather.
This usually worked for me!Have a nice day!

Thanked: 129If it's a boar brush you'll need to soak it for about 5 minutes before you make your lather. I usually fill a spare bowl with water and leave it in that whilst I have a shower. Boar absorbs loads more water than badger.

Since it's a larger brush than the AOS you're used to using, I think babarog hit it on the head by suggesting to use more product.
Boar brushes in my experience take a little while to break in as well. Use it as much as you can and I bet it will 'relax' within 8-10 more days.

Thanked: 2Thanks guys...
I do soak the brush..probably about 10 minutes or so...while i'm showering.
In terms of taking the lather off the top of the brush...how do you do that with out rinsing it?? just on a towel?

Thanked: 1936Use the side of your bowl, sink, fingers, towels, your ear...whatever you want. The cool thing about our sport is there some basics, but from there you can try things out & see what works for you. I personally lather in large scuttle & wipe the lather on the side of the brush into the bowl of the scuttle.

Just grasp your fingers around the top and rinse the extra or put it in a scuttle if you have one!
Have a nice day!
