ID help on Horn Ivory & Carved Shaving Brush
Can anyone assist in identifying where and when this may have been made. Picked it up on the bay several years ago. Haven't seen one quite like it again. I believe the cup is water buffalo horn and base could be ivory but not certain about either. From the hand carving on the base thought it might be possibly be Japanese in origin, perhaps even Meji period as have seen similar "ocean waves" design on their antique ceramics. Have an 18mm Silver tip badger knot on the way. Should turn out nice when finished. Welcome comments. Thanks

It's a custom piece. Usually they have a makers mark somewhere. if it doesn't it would be impossible to really identify.
