Default Lee Sabini: an excellent Craftsmen

    Hello fellow SRP gentlemen,

Just wanted to share with you my recent experience of acquiring a 3XL Morris and Forndran brush produced by Mr. Lee Sabini directly from the Master. I did an extensive research on his products and customer service before contacting him. Though his brushes almost always were reviewed as of a top notch quality his responsiveness (or lack thereof) was described oftentimes as "notoriously inconsistent" and sometimes unacceptable. However, I decided to take my chances and wrote a quick message to Mr. Sabini introducing myself and asking whether he would be able to sell me one of his larger brushes.

I guess I was just lucky, but he responded within 8 hours (perhaps just due to the time difference between Boston, MA and the UK) and all my further experience of communicating with Mr. Sabini has been satisfactory. The brush that he manufactured for me is THE BEST brush I have ever used, and I tried many. Hi was consistently responsive via email and never ignored my messages. The brush arrived to our snow-overwhelmed Boston, MA in only nine days after shipment and I had an opportunity to test it tonight.

    The conclusion is: OUTSTANDING.

I revisited some threads on other wet-shaving forums where Mr. Sabini's customer service was described very negatively because he did not respond instantaneously. I would like to caution against making such judgements. Master Sabini is a craftsmen first and foremost and should not be expected to be on email all the time. Once again his brushes are in my opinion among the best shaving brushes on the market and he does his best to process transactions as quickly as possible. I highly recommend working with him!

    With kind regards,
    AG

That is a beauty. Unless I'm badly mistaken Lee doesn't make the brushes personally ? He has an artisan/artisans who actually fashion the brushes. I have a couple of Rooney Finests from the old days. One branded Truefitt & Hill, the other, a prototype of the FInest grade, branded Old Apothecary. Great brushes with the scritch that the Finests were known for.

Not trying to 'steal your thunder' posting these two, just figure that what is good for the goose is good for the gander, so I needed to post a photo too.

    Great brushes you have too!

From my correspondence with Lee I understood that he made the brush that he sent me himself, but i might be mistaken. However, Regardless of who really made the brush, my new acquisition is magnificent and I hope it would serves me as long as yours have served you!

    Best,

Congratulations on a superb brush. I received my 3xl Finest last month, and as you say, it's outstanding.
The latest batch of Finest is incredibly soft scritch-free, and is my preference over the Heritage 2-Band, another excellent hair.

As I understand it, Lee does make his own brushes, under the M&F brand.

Interesting. For me the thing that made me love the old Rooney Finests, the Simpson Supers and Manchurians was the scritch. I bought three Thater two bands with short lofts hoping to get one with scrtich but I've come to the conclusion that a Thater with scritch doesn't exist. Rooney Heritage is non scritchy as well ........

Yes, Jimmy.....I owned one of Lee's Finest a couple of years back, and sold it, soon after, due to that scritch. At the time, Heritage was definitely the softer option. This is no longer the case. Good or bad news, depending on preference.
