Thanked: 3Which Omega is right for me?
I wanted to pick up a boars hair brush so that I can try out something with more backbone. I currently have a fancy fine badger hair brush I got from TAOS, which works fine for creams, but I feel like the soaps are giving me a harder time. I always see the omega brand being brought up here in good light so I assume this is a reputable brand. I went to west coast shaving and there are like 18 different omega brushes. Are all these actually brushes with different quality boars hairs, or are they all the same hairs just with different quality handles?

They are all different, blends, lofts etc. I have a 10098 which is really nice but it has a big loft so the extra backbone is sort of negated.
I did a thread a while back about omega brushes where another member posted a link to the range and it's characteristics.
Semogue brushes are also nice and a similar price, the 1305 has a decent backbone to it.Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast

Give the Semogue Boar brushes a good review before making your decision. Semogoue makes some fine boar brushes

Thanked: 3226I have both an Omega 10066 and a Semogue 1305 that I use. They both work well but feel different on the face while lathering. Of the two I like the cheapo Omega 10066 slightly better. That is a personal preference and may or may not be what you find using the same brushes. Nice thing about boar brushes is that they are relatively cheap so it is easy to try a couple and to see what you like personally.

My every day brush is a Semogue 1800 -
The travel brush is a 1305 with the all too common paint chipping issues - does not effect the brush.
It's good that I love the Piggy, and that I basically only have a couple - this allows me to indulge in my other AD's and say "hey, I only have two (low cost) brushes"
Face or Bowl, Soaps or Creams they just work.
