Couldn't find a brush :(
I went out yesterday to some antique shops looking for a new razor. Of the very few that were open, none had anything worthwhile; most being overpriced and/or damaged beyond repair.
Anyway I got home and started looking for a new brush. My current one is an el cheapo best badger that has been doing the job but is losing bristles at a great rate.
Is that normal? To lose bristles?? Or is the knot of poor quality?
I found it hard because I wanted a good quality silvertip but most Australian vendors are very over priced (Australia is like this in general, but some are going even further IMHO).
And further to that I couldn't actually find very many silver tip brushes that really looked nice enough to lash out on.
Is there some kind of secret brush place hiding in the depths of the net I haven't come across, I'd make one myself but I don't know how good it would be.
Currently this one takes my fancy but is a tad pricey unfortunately. I am quite partial to silver and it looks classy enough, and probably can replace the knot when it goes...
Anyway, does anyone here make brushes on request?

There are a few guys on here that do GREAT work!
Check out the brushmakers Alcove:
The Brushmakers Alcove
Take a look there and see if you like the work of any particular gentleman and then PM them and ask if they would be willing to make you one.
Can't hurt to ask.....right....

There are many talented artisans making brushes. I have 3 custom made brushes. 2 from Aremour and 1 from ElDruida.
Here the work of HARRYWALLY has totally struck my eye as some of the most beautifully crafted and finished brushes I have ever seen. When the budget is in order I may very well contact him to commission one if possible.
Another favorite I have seen on twitter is Marco Finaldi, his brushes are true works of art but I do not have one personally.
My other fancy is restored vintage brushes. I have some I absolutely love that I have reknotted and restored myself and they are fantastic.

We have several very talented folks here. Look through the alcove and then contact someone.
I'd be careful with used brushes. You could get something that can fall apart the first time you use it not to mention the bugs that lurk within. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

I have three to recommend: HARRYWALLy, HARRYWALLY, HARRYWALLY. I have two, one of his design and one custom to my design. There are others, but till I get a third from him I look no further.
