Thanked: 228New old brush
I found this old brush at a local monthly Trade Days this past Saturday. I have never seen a brush that uses a wooden handle with an upper metal part that encloses the knot. It has Albright Rubberset embossed on the metal portion. I will probably attempt to replace the knot some time in the future. Anyone see one like this before?

Thanked: 4825That wood handle looks wonderfully aged and stain, there is no chance you could get that done so well by any other means other than time. I would just replace the knot and seal the wood. That is a nice piece. More likely I would get someone else to replace the knot. I am liking it.

Thanked: 228I cleaned it up a bit with a tooth brush and it looks like it had been painted black at one time.
Who are some people that are maybe, vendors on this forum, that would re-knot this for me? I would prefer someone on this forum, of course!

Thanked: 4825If you go to the brush makers alcove you will quickly see who posts regularly. In Cali there is a guy that does amazing new brushes. I have no idea if he would be interested in your project or knot. PM Pixelfixed and he will either say yes or no. Other than that check the regulars in that area of the forum and see who would like to take on the job, that is not half way around the globe.

Good luck on the re-knot. Keep us posted on how it turns out. I agree with RezDog. The antiqued/ rustic nature to the handle is nice. If it could be maintained with CA or laquior. It would be awesome. Maybe a premium horse or boar knot to maintain the posterity of the design. JMPO

Thanked: 2027Is actually a very common style of brush handle,I see them all the time.
Can be tricky to re Knot as the wood to alum.may be very fragile,be carefull trying to pull that knot.CAUTION
