    Default my thoughts on synthetics

my first synthetis is a foux bone franks shaving brush. when i recieved it i was inpressed it looks great it was a sexy brush. the softness was compairable to a silvertip badger i used it, not alot of backbone but preformed well and met my needs as a aristocrat of wet shaving. lol but all the hype about you dont need a stand they dry right away etc. lies all lies its been 24 hours and the brush is still wet

I don't know about being still wet after 24 hours because none of my synthetics stay wet that long. No, they do not dry instantaneously either but definitely in at least 1/2 the time or even less than a similar silvertip badger brush. Maybe the environment is more humid in Kansas than here. Something is off though.

You still have to do your part , squeeze and shake then towel, my sun dries really fast compared to a badger, it's my travel brush. Tc

Yes, that is for sure. Just to check on time to dry I lathered up a 24mm synthetic knot about 4 hours ago. I did my normal shakes, gentle squeeze and swipes across a towel and it is now just ever so slightly damp. Another hour and it will be dry.

I have one I reknotted that is from The Golden Nib. It will stay wet I just set on it's base. It is the only knot I am convinced actually should be hung up to dry. That said, performance is great, it just takes a little bit to figure out how to get the moisture level right to build the lather.

Well, to be honest I have never heard anyone say that their synthetic knot stays wet even after 24 hours drying. Question is what are you fellas doing differently from what I do or is the environment that much different, ie more humid? Be interesting to know how many others have the same issue with synthetics.

I mean my travel synthetic brush gets the shake, gentle squeeze and towel treatment and back into the container. The container goes in my wet pack and off for the days travel. Next morning when I retrieve the brush for that mornings shave it is drier than a popcorn fart. It is damp going into the container which goes in a wet pack which goes into my luggage till next morning but still manages to be dry then. It is not in the open air drying out the whole time.

Are you storing the brush in an open air environment. Do you squeeze the water out of the brush after the final rinse. My L'Occitane synthetic usually dries within eight to ten hours

For mine, I squeeze it out, then dry it on a towel. If I hang upside down, it will be dry the next day. If I set I on it's base, it will still be a little damp. I don't travel with my synthetic.

Strange. I don't know what your humidity and temperature are like but my synthetics dry within a couple of hours. I just shake the water out after rinsing and let them air dry. I don't keep them in the bathroom though .
